PHL COVID-19 FUND

COVID-19 Focus Now Is On Recovery

The PHL COVID-19 Fund was launched March 19, 2020 and led by the Philadelphia Foundation and the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ). It rapidly deployed aid to nonprofits serving on the front lines of the coronavirus.

Over the course of one year, this extraordinary collaborative effort among philanthropy, business, government and community leaders awarded close to 600 grants totaling over $18.4 million.

We are grateful to all those who generously contributed to the fund to help their neighbors in need. The final round of grants has been announced.

The  Philadelphia Foundation now has launched the PHL COVID-19 Recovery Fund, with a focus on aiding regional nonprofits in long-term recovery efforts.

Every dollar makes a difference!

Community organizations providing support to our most vulnerable neighbors faced an unprecedented strain on their resources because of COVID-19 and continue to respond to long-term needs.  The PHL COVID-19 Recovery Fund will rapidly and equitably deploy solutions and resources to help our nonprofit community navigate the long-term challenges resulting from COVID-19 and ensure that critical resources remain available for those in our community who need it most.

"Funding is imperative for our clinical staff"

“This pandemic is particularly devastating to the vibrant Latinx immigrant population we serve as they face additional challenges in accessing critical resources. Funding will be imperative for our clinical staff conducting telemedicine and crucial home visits, and for an emergency, food relief efforts as the majority of families we surveyed were assessed at a high food insecurity rating, and over half of families have lost all sources of income.”

ONGOING NEEDS

FULL RECOVERY WILL TAKE TIME

The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated and laid bare a range of systemic barriers and social inequities that had for far too long been overlooked. And so, while immediate emergency response needs have, thankfully, largely been mitigated and our communities are starting to return to some sense of normalcy, the economic and social ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic require an ongoing commitment.

The PHL COVID-19 Recovery Fund supports eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania and Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland counties in New Jersey
